About Me

Hello my name is Michael Bautista, I’m a proud Mexican American from Wildwood, New Jersey. I have a deep rooted passion for storytelling that sparked from the young age of twelve years old. Growing up I was always surrounded by books, fantasy, science fiction, and action allowing me to live various life. I always knew I wanted to write but I was also fascinated by TV and films like “The Dead Poets Society”, “The Wizard of Oz” or “Pride & Prejudice” and took up theater arts throughout high school. It wasn’t until I began to religiously watch news programs like ABC News, CBS or Telemundo with my parents that I realized my two passions could blend together. I want to tell genuine and authentic stories that others can connect to. I hold a associates degree from Atlantic Cape Community College in May’s Landing, N.J.

During my time at Atlantic Cape I had the honor of serving as the Editor-In-Chief of our college newspaper, The Atlantic Cape Review, from Fall 2022-Spring 2023. I helped mentor young writers like myself in the Journalism I and Journalism II classes to mold them into skilled journalists. The work I did inside and outside of the newsroom led to being given a mentoring award; following a few state journalism awards at the 2023 Atlantic Cape Communication Awards. Afterwards I transferred to Rowan University in the Fall of 2023 in pursuit of my bachelor’s degree. Approaching my senior year I’ve had the privilege of serving as a staff writer for the college’s newspaper, The Whit. I’ve enjoyed working alongside many talented and ambitious classmates/peers in both the newsroom and my classes. I’ve expanded my skillset beyond the classroom through volunteering at college events such as Hollybash and Accepted Students Day.

Additionally I keep myself myself productive through assisting my family wether it’s through renovating/building houses to matters maintaining a grocery store. This only the beginning, I plan on expanding my skillset and overall growth through new opportunities.
